High Lonesome Sound on Audible

Have you listened to High Lonesome Sound yet?

In Moon Hollow, secrets won’t stay buried. Neither will the dead.

On the day her mama died, Ruby Barrett stopped hearing the mountain’s song, and her daddy, Cotton, climbed into a barrel of moonshine. With no future to look forward to except raising her two brat sisters, Ruby prays for a miracle to help her escape Moon Hollow. When horror author Peter West arrives looking for a story idea to resurrect his failing career, Ruby believes he’s the answer to her prayers. But Cotton Barrett has some whiskey-soaked prayers of his own. He wants his wife back, and he’s willing to strike a deal with the devil himself to make it happen.

“This is a story that will leave you shivering in the dead of summer.” -Cherie Priest, author of The Family Plot

“A masterful portrayal of flawed humanity struggling to hear the song of the sublime. It’s harrowing, haunting, and ultimately triumphant with a deeply satisfying conclusion.” -Kevin Hearne, NYT Bestselling author of the Iron Druid series

“Some of the best horror I’ve read in ages. Feels like Stephen King after he really hit his stride.” -Stephen Blackmoore, author of Dead Things

High Lonesome Sound Audiobook

At long last, the audiobook of my Appalachian Gothic novel High Lonesome Sound is available!

For this special production, I worked with the wonderful Rebecca Roberts, whose evocative narration made the story feel brand new for me.

Meridian Six Now in Audio

Hot on the heels of Cursed Moon’s release earlier this week, the audiobook for Meridian Six is now available! Meridian Six is the first novella set in a brand new, near-future world where vampires have imprisoned the entire human race in blood and labor camps.More novellas are planned in this story about a group of rebels trying to overthrow their bloodthirsty overlords.

The audiobook was narrated by the very talented Nicky Phillips. She did a great job capturing Meridian Six’s voice and was a dream to work with on this project.

Meridian_SixMeridian Six remembers the days before the Troika enslaved humans. She also remembers her mother, a freedom fighter murdered in the final battle between humans and vampires. But it is her mother’s final words that have haunted her: Red means life. In the years since her mother’s death, she has been used as both a propaganda tool and a blood slave by the Troika. She’s withstood their indignities because the alternative meant bleeding out in a blood camp. But their abuses finally go too far, and she decides to run toward freedom and her mother’s red light. On the other side of the light, she meets a band of human rebels who want to take their world back from the Troika. The vampires used her famous name to keep human slaves biddable, but now the rebels will use it inspire a revolution. For Meridian Six, freedom is a luxury paid for with blood.
